Bettie, a lifelong Presbyterian, began her church music career at the East End Baptist Church at only 15 years of age as organist and choir director.

She earned a Bachelors degree in Music Education from Duquesne University in 1971 and a Masters Equivalency later on. Eleven years were dedicated to teaching choral music to the students at Wilkinsburg Sr. and Jr. High Schools while serving as organist and choir director at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church.

She has loved every minute of a nearly 50 year career working with adult, teen, childrens and bell choirs. Directing the Sanctuary Choir at Newlonsburg Presbyterian has been an unexpected pleasure.
