NPC Child Protection Policy Process for Work with Children and Vulnerable Adults
Newlonsburg Presbyterian Church (NPC) is committed to maintaining a safe, nurturing environment for all children and youth under the age of eighteen and vulnerable adults in its care. At Baptism, the congregation participates in a covenant to guide and nurture its children in the faith. Parents and other members of the congregation are responsible to shepherd children, leading them toward a deeper understanding of the love and grace of Jesus Christ. Therefore, NPC has implemented a Child Protection Policy to provide a safe and secure environment for the children who participate in the programs and activities of NPC. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our children safe.
STEP 1: READ 2 NPC POLICIES. SIGN TWO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FORMS. TURN IN FORMS.

2. NPC Sexual Misconduct Policy

STEP 2: GET TWO STATE CLEARANCES. TURN IN DOCUMENTATION.
NOTE: If you already have these clearances through your work or other volunteer organizations and they are less than 5 years old, you can turn in a copy of these clearances to the church.
Please complete the following two clearances. These are free for volunteers and can be completed by clicking on the links provided and following the instructions. When you receive your clearances, submit a copy to the church office. The church will reimburse church employees who must pay for their clearances.

STEP 3: GET FBI CLEARANCE OR SIGN A DISCLOSURE FORM. TURN IN DOCUMENTATION.
NOTE: If you already have this clearance through your work or other volunteer organizations and it is less than 5 years old, you can turn in a copy of this clearance to the church. A volunteer is welcome to submit their FBI Criminal Clearance if they have that already from a place of employment.
1. For paid employees or volunteers who have lived in PA for less than 10 years only please complete the FBI Criminal Background Check and submit a copy of the clearance to the church office.

2. For volunteers who have lived in PA for 10 or more years only Please print out and sign the Volunteer Disclosure form that is linked here.
STEP 4: Complete Mandated Reporter Training & TURN IN Certificate or Acknowledgement Report.
NOTE: If you have already completed a training program through your work or another volunteer organization and have a certificate of completion that is less than 5 years old, you may submit that certificate.
1. OPTION 1 UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH ONLINE TRAINING PROGRAM Complete the following Mandated Reporter training offered by the PA Child Welfare Resource Center. This training is free, but you need to create a login and password before completing the course. The course is approximately 3 hours. Print the Certificate earned and submit to the Church Office. https://www.reportabusepa.pitt.edu
2. OPTION 2 NPC TRAINING PROCESS

c. Print out and sign the NPC Mandated Reporter Training Acknowledgement form which is linked here.

3. OPTION 3 SUBMIT CERTIFICATE FROM OTHER APPROVED PROGRAM You may have to complete training for work that has oversight by the state of PA. That will generally work for our program. Please speak with Pastor Lori.
Submitting Your Documentation
Please email, drop off, or mail the completed forms, and any certificates of completion to the Office Manager and they will be securely filed.
