Opportunities for Middle and High School Students:
Youth Group
Youth group is open to those in 6th-12th grade and meets twice a month on Sunday afternoons from 12:30 pm-2:00 pm. We start out our time enjoying food and fellowship followed by a time of games and faith-based lessons. Friends are always welcome to join us! For more information please contact Breana Howard at: Breana.Howard@comcast.net
Additionally, NPC hosts Recreational Afterschool Ministry for middle schoolers (6th-8th grade). Students enjoy snacks, games, and devotionals in a friendly and fun environment. RAM takes place Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons, from 3-4:30 pm.
Sunday School
Youth in grades 6-12 gather each week from 9:45 am-10:45 am for enriching and engaging lessons that give them a deeper understanding of the Bible.
Currently, we are using Orange!
It’s about influencing the faith and future of our teenagers. It combines youth development and theology that creates a powerful strategy to develop a deeper faith. We will meet each Sunday in the youth classroom (room 106) from 9:45 - 10:45 am.
As part of Sunday School 8th graders typically participate in Confirmation class. Elders usually prepare the eighth grade students for their Confirmation. The leaders work with these young Christians to guide them and prepare them to become active, educated members of NPC. Confirmation class is usually offered as the 8th grade Sunday school class on Sunday mornings as well as responsibilities to be completed during one of the worship services. Last year the confirmation class included 7th graders, so there is no 2024/2025 class. We are presently evaluating options for the neat years' curriculum.
Work Trips
Newlonsburg has a strong tradition of sending kids on work trips over the summer. Traditionally, we have two - one for middle schoolers and one for high schoolers.
Fundraisers
Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to participate in several fundraising activities to help pay their way for the summer work trips. Additionally, we frequently need adult helpers too. If a student participates in some or most of these fundraisers, it is easily possible to fundraise the entirety of their work trip cost. A key component of our fundraising is taking pledges before or after worship services—I consider that to be the easiest way to get fundraising credit. In most cases, students need merely to stand outside the worship service as people are leaving and encourage them to pledge or order.
