Children's Ministry

Children's Ministry (Birth-5th Grade)

The Christian Education Programs of NPC are overseen by the Equipping Ministry. The goal of the Equipping Ministry is to awaken and nurture faith in Jesus Christ. In the fullness of Christian community our children, youth, and adults will grow in discipleship, understand God's Word, and share the love of Christ with others.

Sunday School
Infants up to age 2

During Sunday School, infants up to age 2 are cared for in the church nursery by a team of experienced caregivers who love little ones.  This allows teachers and parents of young children to participate in class offerings.  We believe good loving care is the first part of Christian Education!

Pre-school students, Ages 2-4

Preschool students, ages 2-4 are currently using the Spark: Lectionary curriculum. The Spark: Lectionary curriculum connects Sunday school to the church year with readings from the revised common lectionary, engages kids with hands-on learning including activities, interactive games and creative crafts and helps kids learn by interacting with the Spark Bible in every lesson.

Kindergarten to Grade 5

Children from kindergarten through fifth grade gather each week from 9:45 am-10:45 am for fun, engaging, and age-appropriate lessons that give them a deep understanding of the Bible stories.

The hour begins most weeks with Sunday School Music in the Choir Room from 9:45-10:00am.

After that, children are dismissed to go with their teachers to their classes.

Currently we are using the Big Faith Sunday School curriculum.

Sunday School Outreach

Throughout the year the children support outreach activities such as the Heifer Project and One Great Hour of Sharing. They also have the opportunity to help local missions by providing Christmas gifts to organizations like the East End Cooperative Ministry.

Twice each year, during the Sunday school hour children have the opportunity to learn about various organizations and do work to benefit those organizations. Some of the previous organizations with which we have partnered have included East End Cooperative Ministry, Redstone Highlands, Meals on Wheels, Murrysville First Responders, the mission in La Croix, Haiti, and Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the Laurel Region.

Club 45
4th-5th graders

Club 45 is a gathering for 4th and 5th graders. On the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month we gather from 6:00 - 8:00, enjoying food, fellowship, bible study, and fun.

Like each of our children's activities, Club 45 is open to our community, so please invite your friends, grandchildren and neighbors!

Our Director of Children and Family Ministries plans and hosts this time for fellowship, and welcomes adult volunteers who help to support this ministry with their presence - and maybe even joining in on the fun.

Cost is $5 per participant per session.

Children's Bibles

Young families are given a Spark Story Bible when the eldest child turns two.  The Spark Story Bible opens up God's Word to kids through colorful art and rich retelling of 150 of the most popular Bible stories.

Each fall, third graders receive their own copy of Deep Blue Kids Bible and may begin to assist in worship as liturgists if they desire.
