La Croix, Haiti Mission Trips
Several of our members have made trips to La Croix over the past 19 years with other church groups.
In 1998 a group of Newlonsburg Presbyterian Church members first traveled to the La Croix New Testament Mission in La Croix, Haiti as part of a medical and dental mission team. Since that time, NPC members have made multiple mission trips there. NPC has developed a partnership with several other metropolitan Pittsburgh churches to support the work of the La Croix New Testament Mission. In addition to actual mission trips, individual NPC members sponsor a child at the Mission's schools by contributions through NPC. The sponsored child gets school tuition, school uniform, schoolbooks, and one hot meal a day through the sponsorship. For many it is the only meal they get. NPC members also have supported the Mission's overall work by sponsoring an alternative Christmas gifts program the last few years.

On September 29, 2020, we had the pleasure of having Pastor Evens at NPC and to hear about how God is working in Haiti.
2017 Mission Trip
Well before the break of dawn on January 14, 2017 marked the beginning of the journey to LaCroix, Haiti for 12 NPC members, family and friends. This year's group included Pastor Curtis Paul, Ty Radcliff, Holly Schaup, Chrissy Livingston, Rich Howorth, Kristen Beard, Terri Thornburg, Collin Rittiger, Katie Policaro, Jennifer Remaley, Waltraud Neilson, and Jon Moerdyk. We range from high school and college all the way to... well, we will leave that be. Thanks be to God that there was a smooth flight down, and for an uneventful customs process. Pastor Evans met us in the airport as we gathered up our bags containing letters and small gifts for sponsor children, tools, drawer slides and all other many of items for the coming week. This year, we also had the pleasure of Terry Dean and Gary Leever from New Beginnings Church in Ohio with us during our week as they laid some groundwork for their church to come right after us. What a blessing to interact with those two men of God during the course of our week.
All of us loaded into the Land Cruisers or the cage truck for the roughly three-hour drive to LaCroix with a stop at Hotel Easy for a drink. Traveling from the airport to La Croix is an experience made easier by recent improvements to the roads but difficult for the poverty plainly evident. While we see areas of poverty in the US, the poverty never seems to end as you drive through Haiti. Still, improvements can be seen from year to year in some areas. We arrived after dark and between ourselves and the Haitians there got all of our luggage up to the rooms.
